The refer a friend script allows a site owner to setup a referral service so their visitors can send specific pages to their friends and family.  The information below will help you get started utilizing the refer a friend script quickly and effectively.

Modifying the email format sent from visitors to friends

Steps:

  1. Login to your master admin at www.<yourdomain>.com/cgi-bin/master/Admin.cgi

  2. Go to "Refer A Friend".  Modify the email subject line, header, and footer accordingly.

Specify which page to get referred

Steps:

  1. Login to your master admin at www.<yourdomain>.com/cgi-bin/master/Admin.cgi

  2. Go to "Refer A Friend"

  3. Specify at the bottom which page you want referred.  If you are using frames, you will want to select "A specific page" option since the refer a friend script can not recognize the parent frame.  Typically you would insert your home page url here.

Modifying help files

If you want to provide your site owner a more extensive or "modified" version of help files you can. 

Step:

  1. Using your html editor on your pc, modify the following template:
    help-scripts/help-refer-a-friend.htm

  2. Simply save the file with your new design and move it over to the server.  You will want to keep your images outside of the cgi-bin.

Linking refer a friend to your website

Step:

  1. Simply point your refer a friend button on your website to the following url:
    http://www.<yourdomain>.com/cgi-bin/refer-a-friend/raf.cgi
    Note: This url can also be found under the "Important URL's" link on the main startup page of the master admin.
